Long Jump Men 2 Czech Republic 8.03

I aimed for indoor PB which is 8.10 m. But is the first 8metre jump indoors since 2016, that is great. I had problem with my ankle tendon since Jablonec, I wanted only 2 or 3 jumps, but I had no jump in first two, so I decided to go further. It (8.03) was not perfect jump, I think fifth was better, but I got the red flag. Yesterdays words from Miltiadis were really nice, he IS olympic champion. It is good to go step by step.

1500m Men 5 Czech Republic 3:37.99

I got to closed position at the beginning, I lost may be 0.5 in the end, but the race was fast. Lost BIB was not complication I voluntarily teared it off because I noticed it is not perfectly sticked. I had good feeling until last 50 metres, but they are always tough. I am happy that even with first 1500 is better than I finished last year. I am on the right path. Next stop is Stockholm and I will be pacemaker for 3k in Torun and Lievin, that is great honour and may be another WR will come (smile). I am hopefully closer to Glasgow now, I will run also in Belgrade. If it is there I will show it.

Eduard KUBELÍK  7:28:00 PM

200m Men (Run) 1 Czech Republic 20.66

It is much better start to the season than last year, I feel good energy. I was tired a bit todfay and under stress like it always is when you are co-favourite. I tried to run my own race, people cheering before the start did not bother me. I expected tougher competition, especially in the last bend, but I stayed motivated until the finish line. I have Czech record in my mind, may be not this season, but it would be great and I definetely want to go this way. The 60 metres was good warm up for me, I did not run to the maximum and it also helped me mentally. Atmosphere was fine, it is great that so many people came.

Amálie ŠVÁBÍKOVÁ  7:18:00 PM
Disciplína Umí. Oddíl/stát Výkon
Pole Vault Women 2 Czech Republic 4.63

It was not good jumping today, I could not cope with technique, especially with the run up. It was not ideal but I was for the first time in the season jumping from 16 step approach and I am happy that I tried higher heights like 473, that is positive. Ostrava crowd was excellent again and it is fine I managed to be second. Also, it is great to jump 463 in second race of the season. I will have one more race in Prague before national championships, then Clermont-Ferrand and I will see if it is enough to get to Glasgow.

Miltiadis TENTOGLOU  7:17:00 PM
Disciplína Umí. Oddíl/stát Výkon
Long Jump Men 1 Greece 8.09

I felt good today, but the first competition of the year is always difficult for me. I was making technical mistakes, but that´s normal in my case. I like to jump indoors, I feel it´s my territory. When there  is no wind or weather to worry about, I can be very precise. I have already won everything I could and what motivates me more now is trying to jump farther. It is ok to lose sometimes, the distances are more important. The goals that I have are 8.60 indoors and 8.75 outdoors.

Isaac NADER  7:12:00 PM

1500m Men 1 Portugal 3:34.23

It´s a national record for me, so I am very happy. But I expected this, I think I can even run 3:32-3:33 indoors. But I would need more guys staying with me in the race to do that. At the World Indoors I want to make the final and then hopefully fight for gold.

I am happy that I hit right at least one attempt, it was far from beeing ideal but it is even better into next competitions that I am capable at least for 21.5 m. I felt better energy than in Jablonec, even in warm up. We have to focus on easy attempts that go to 21, that fly further, I always love to come back to Ostrava, crowd is great here, we feel support although tribune is on the other side than circle.

Tina ŠUTEJ  6:53:00 PM

Pole Vault Women 1 Slovenia 4.73

I am satisfied with the wayy I started the season. I enjoy jumping in Ostrava, the crowd here is amazing. The reason I am able to keep on improving is that I always try to fix things in my technique. I think I can still progress. My goal for this winter is to break my national record. At the World Indoor I just want to vault my best.

Pia SKRZYSZOWSKA  6:49:00 PM

60m Hurdles [83,8 cm] Women (Final) 1 Poland 07.82

A meeting record is always nice and this one especially so, since the previous one belonged to my traning mate Nadine Visser. I was kind of hoping I can shave another 0.05 off this time for a national record, but a win on the World Tour is a good thing. I definitely dream of getting into 7.7 territory. I have a few days to get ready for my next competition in Torun, so I should get some rest andd refocus for that one. The Olympics are a long time away, I´m not even thinking about them yet, for now I´m focusing on the indoor season.

Vít MÜLLER  6:41:00 PM
Disciplína Umí. Oddíl/stát Výkon
400m Men (Run) 1 Czech Republic 46.26

I am very surprised with the time, I expected only slightly under 47. I opened the season with 300 with only 0.5 sec slower than PB. I have an issue with my Achilles and I am hurdler so indoors is something additional. National championships may be my last indoor competition, but if we get to Glasgow with the relay I will go. Today I wanted to go slower first lap but Lionel was close so I wanted to be first down to lane 1. I did know that opponents are close nly because of announcer, but I always push no matter and also thanks to sold out arena that helped me to the finish line.

Lieke KLAVER  6:39:00 PM
Disciplína Umí. Oddíl/stát Výkon
400m Women (Run) 1 Netherlands 50.54

I always ran fast in Ostrava, but this is a very good start to the season. This morning I told my brother I was going to run 50.70 and I did even better, so I have to be satisfied. I am planning to go to the World Indoors. Can I challenge Femke there - I always try to challenge everyone, including myself.

Ewa SWOBODA  6:22:00 PM
Disciplína Umí. Oddíl/stát Výkon
60m Women 1 Poland 07.07

I´m satisfied with my performance today. I like the figures 7.07, since this was my world junior record. I love running in Ostrava. My goal for the indoor season now is Torun, then the National Champs and World Indoor Champs. I don´t want to speak about how fast I´m going to run. I approach this indoor season the same as I do every year. It is important for me, it doesn´t matter that it´s an Olympic year.

Roger STEEN  6:05:00 PM

It was a good field, but I came into the competition thinking it was wide open since it´s so early in the season. I believed I had a chance. I´m heading back to the US now for the National Championships. If I qualify for the World Indoor, I may come back to Europe.

Yoshihide KIRYU  6:00:00 PM
Disciplína Umí. Oddíl/stát Výkon
60m Men (Final) 1 Japan 06.53

I´m happy with the national record today. I think I can go faster. I want to do well at the World Indoor and then in Paris.

Freweyni HAILU  5:51:00 PM
Disciplína Umí. Oddíl/stát Výkon
1500m Women 1 Ethiopia 4:01.03

I´m very very happy with my performance today. I won a medal at the last World Indoor. This time I plan to run the 1500 and I am ready for it.

Jakub DUDYCHA  5:37:00 PM

800m Men 4 Czech Republic 1:47.42

It went totally other way than I expected. Indoor running is always tough, much more than outdoors and I had an unpleasant contact when entering the third lap. Although it is a national junior record, I wanted much better time, 0.7 or 0.8 sec faster and to finish TOP 3. It is a big disappointment for me. But crowd was great, people pushed me further and I am very grateful to be here. I have two competitions abroad and senior national championships and we will see if it is enough for Glasgow.

Tshepiso MASALELA  5:27:00 PM
Disciplína Umí. Oddíl/stát Výkon
800m Men 1 Botswana 1:46.41

It was my first indoor race and it is different because of the curves. You need more technique to run indoors. But since I was a junior I always wanted to try it. and I think I´m going to like it. My plan was to stay in the front, that´s what I told the organisers before the race. I am planning to run four indoor races and then going back to South Africa. I haven´t decided yet if I´m going to compete at the World Indoor Champs.
